Mustarinda Löyly develops from a specifically ecological residence in Finland, in a native old forest, the core of which is a wooden house that originally served as a school.
The house is an experiment that works with renewable energy.
Mustarinda is a strong sponge of the network as far as Finnish-Czech relations are concerned. Many artists, theorists and curators have been there for several years.
Kateřina Dobroslava Drahošová was the first to go to Mustarinda (2012) and plant the seed of cooperation there. Thanks to this brave author, who once rushed there for a work placement and discovered this place and at the same time told Michaela Casková about it, who took over this baton and holds it and passes it on, more enthusiasts are going to Mustarinda. An important moment for the whole exhibition is the artistic research in the form of an author's book, in which individual Czech and Slovak authors who have physical experience of staying in Mustarinda either as artists in residence or as volunteers participate. In the selection of Czech and Slovak artists, women are mainly represented, which is also an interesting aspect, both in the exhibition and from the point of view of who is interested and attracted to this exceptional space and place.Research from this point of view also provides behind-the-scenes insight and attempts to track down all the artists. The drawings, paintings and other types of artefacts created are present not only as illustrations in the published publication but also physically as artefacts in the exhibition. They are the subjective essence of Mustarinda.
